An all-Australian lineup has been revealed for the 2021 AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium in Western Australia.

Birds of Tokyo, John Butler, Eskimo Joe and Stella Donnelly are just some of the bands and artists taking to the stage as the Melbourne Demons clash with the Western Bulldogs for Premiership glory.

Unlike previous grand finals, the AFL has selected their lineup from a pool of WA-based musicians.

'Over our career, we’ve had a few times to be a part of these magic moments where Australian sport and music comes together,' said Birds of Tokyo frontman Ian Kenny in an interview with the Herald Sun.

'From a performance point of view, these stadiums are a beast of their own because you’re talking 60,000 people, not to mention 3.2 million sets of eyeballs watching on the TV and the band welcomes those challenges; it’s not our first rodeo,' he added.

The band members of Birds of Tokyo are big Aussie Rules fans and have had their share of musical involvement in the game.

The band played at the pre-match show in 2013 when Hawthorn beat the Fremantle Dockers and last year they did a revamp of the West Coast Eagles' club song.

All the members will be at next week's Grand Final match except guitarist and producer Adam Spark, who is stuck in lockdown in Sydney.

Besides the band, the star-studded lineup features John Butler, Eskimo Joe, Abbe May, Stella Donnelly, The Waifs’ Donna Simpson and Vikki Thorn and Indigenous duo Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse.

Songstress Stella Donnelly is also a big AFL fan and admitted that she was more than excited to perform on stage for the big clash.

'I can’t believe I have been given this opportunity, I am a lifelong fan of the game so to be on that stage performing will be a huge spin out, and to be doing it with John, Gina, Guy, Donna and Vikki makes it even more special,' she said.
