Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) supports AFLMWA Wed, June 13, 2018 - 9:14 AM

During the recent Curtain Raiser Game at Optus Stadium on May 20th, Kate Fandry, Business Development Manager for the Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF) joined Waroona Demons and Rossmoyne Rhinos on the playing surface as a Guest of the Board.  PBF has been added to the advertising panel on the official Burley Sekem Premier playing football used by AFLMWA.  Kate was presented with (2) two footballs from Board Chairman Nathan Dixon in appreciation for PBF’s continued support to our league.

At the recent Country Carnival at Leschenault, the league had the opportunity to hear Symon Still’s personal story and learn from his journey.  Symon is PBF’s Injury Prevention Manager and someone who has experienced a spinal cord injury first hand.  Over 120 people heard some statistics about who is most at risk of these life-changing injuries and how PBF supports people who have experienced a spinal cord injury.  Symon reminded the league that they are all covered by the AFL Masters WA PBF Membership.  PBF members are eligible to claim a $250,000 member benefit payment should they sustain a traumatic spinal cord injury resulting in permanent paraplegia or quadriplegia. This payment is independent of any insurance payment and is aimed at helping members with the costs of rehabilitation, medical bills or any general expenses while they wait for any potential insurance claims to settle, which can take years. Members are covered 24 hours a day, whether they are injured at work, on the road or at play. Most activities are covered, with only limited exclusions.*

AFL Masters WA players have been extended a special invitation by PBF to take out private cover for their partners and families at a heavily discounted price.  Extend cover to your partner for only $25 per annum or for the whole family (children <18yo) for $40 per annum.  Contact PBF directly at info@pbf.asn.au or call 9388 3366 to take advantage of this special offer.
